This site has no other claim but to relate the
adventure of a few friends in search of the alleged
secret treasure of Les Pujols Church. The story starts at Pierrot’s, the local truck stop, run by its mighty landlord Georges : After an undisclosed number of Pastis, the local magic potion, Michel tells us that in his younger years, he remembers having explored a cavity between the two inner walls of the Church. Furthermore, he insists on having seen some intriguing paintings on one of the walls. Needless to say, this triggers general hilarity and the suspicion that the golden elixir might have gone to his head. But he sticks to his story and dares us to go and see for ourselves. Convinced by such an uncompromising stand, we agree to go and take a closer look on the following Sunday. Les Pujols is a small village in the Ariège, near Pamiers and approximately 45 miles south of Toulouse, on the way to Mirepoix. A 13th Century fortified bell tower adorns its Church, converted from a castle. |
